DS AUTOMOBILES GETS READY TO CONTEST THE FIRST SHANGHAI E-PRIX | DS Performance
- The city of Shanghai will host the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship from 25-26 May, for the first time in the history of the all-electric series
- After the great podiums scored in Monaco and then Berlin, DS Automobiles and PENSKE AUTOSPORT are aiming for another strong performance in China
- Jean-Eric Vergne and Stoffel Vandoorne are currently sixth and ninth respectively in the drivers’ championship, while DS PENSKE sits a provisional fourth in the teams’ rankings
Next weekend, Shanghai will host rounds 11 and 12 of Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for the first time in its history, on the famous track located just outside the Chinese metropolis. The particularly wide permanent circuit has been shortened by two kilometres to obtain a suitable lap length for Formula E of three kilometres, and it is sure to provide a massive challenge for the 11 teams in the all-electric series, as energy management will be key to success once more.
Strengthened by two fantastic previous E-Prix podiums, thanks to third place in Monaco and second in Berlin, DS PENSKE lands in China determined to gather more points. In order to accomplish this mission, the team can rely on the talents of Jean-Eric Vergne – the only two-time champion in the history of Formula E – and 2022 champion Stoffel Vandoorne, as well as the speed of the DS E-TENSE F23 developed by DS Performance.
The Shanghai E-Prix will take place on May 25 and 26 at 09:00 CET.
Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance director:
“The Shanghai E-Prix will conclude a very intense period of racing, which has seen us in action every two weeks since mid-March. During that time, we have always been among the frontrunners. In fact, we have been consistently quick in free practice, at the sharp end of the starting grid, and often very fast in the races too; with a couple of podiums and several points collected as a result. Now Shanghai represents a fresh challenge. This is a new venue for us, where we know that energy management will be fundamental to the final result. The whole team has worked very hard to prepare for this double-header and we will give everything to score yet more points. We’re more motivated than ever to continue our climb towards the championship podiums, both in the drivers’ and teams’ rankings. As we head towards this exciting weekend, we are determined to give our best!”
