Electric Cars With the Longest Range
For most of us, having a car means having the freedom to roam, whether that means a quick trip to work or a journey across the continent. If you love taking longer trips but want to buy an electric vehicle, chances are you’re no stranger to range anxiety. Range anxiety is the concern that your EV won’t have enough battery capacity to complete a journey, and it’s a fair one given the work-in-progress state of charging networks in North America.

You’re not alone, either. In a Cars.com survey, 68% of EV shoppers said range was a big factor in which EVs they consider, and 63% of EV owners cited range as a big factor when deciding which car they bought. With this in mind, we gathered EVs currently on sale that have published ratings by the EPA for the 2024 model year and offer a minimum of 300 miles of total driving range. The vehicles vary in style and size from luxurious SUVs and high-performance sports sedans to pickup trucks and practical crossovers. All ranges are based on EPA-estimated figures but are purely estimates. Manufacturer estimates don’t cut it for this list — we wanted a standardized data set to compare, hence deferring to the EPA’s figures. We’re also not including vehicles without EPA estimates at this time. Keep in mind that your range may vary depending on a number of factors, including weather, where you drive, driving style, occupancy and more.
Prices listed here are for the specific trim that delivers the best driving range. If multiple trims offer that same maximum range, we use the least expensive one. There may be sizable differences in driving range depending on the trim you choose. Any potential local, state or federal EV tax incentives were not factored into our pricing information. This article was last updated in June 2024, so range, pricing and availability may have changed by the time you’re reading this.

1. Lucid Air
- Price: $250,575 (including $1,575 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 427 miles
Yet again, Lucid tops our list of longest-range EVs. If the limited-edition, 1,234-hp Air Sapphire with 427 miles of range is a tad too expensive at nearly a quarter million dollars, there’s also the $71,475 rear-wheel-drive Air Pure. The Air Pure with 19-inch wheels gets 419 miles of range, which would top this list if it weren’t for the Sapphire. EPA figures were not available for Lucid’s other trims at this time, but we can say for certain that the Air is a long-range hero.
2. Rivian R1T
- Price: $90,800 (including $1,800 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 410 miles
If you want to get as far off of the pavement as possible, consider the Rivian R1T, a cleverly designed pickup truck with a luxe interior. When combined with its longest-range Max battery and 21-inch wheels, both the Dual-Motor AWD ($90,800) and faster Performance Dual-Motor AWD ($95,800) trucks can go up to 410 miles on a single charge. That’s even more impressive when you realize that the R1T packs all of that power into a truck that’s smaller than a modern-day Ford F-150 — and is more comparable in size to an F-150 from 20 years ago. The backseat is still roomy even for adults, plus there’s a great Gear Tunnel that runs behind the rear seats for items you’d like to keep safely out of view.
3. Tesla Model S
- Price: $74,380 (including $1,390 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 402 miles
The Tesla Model S is a fast, luxurious and spacious electric-powered sedan. Since it burst onto the scene for 2012, the Model S has transformed how people view electric cars. With sharp handling and acceleration to rival some of the world’s quickest sports cars, the Model S is no golf cart. The base Model S returns an EPA-estimated 402 miles of driving range with dual-motor AWD and 19-inch wheels. You can still get plenty of range from the fastest Plaid version with 19-inch wheels, however, which offers up to 359 miles of range. As with all EVs, larger wheels for each Model S variant lower the maximum range.
4. Rivian R1S
- Price: $95,800 (including $1,800 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 400 miles
The Rivian R1S electric SUV, which shares the R1T’s battery pack and powertrain, follows the pickup as the second of the automaker’s vehicles to launch. Like its sibling, the versions with the longest range are the Dual-Motor AWD and Performance Dual-Motor AWD on 21-inch wheels with the Max battery pack. This isn’t an R1T with a bed cap, though — it has a slightly smaller footprint and is a great SUV in its own right, packing three rows of seating in a luxe, futuristic package.
5. Hyundai Ioniq 6
- Price: $43,600 (including $1,150 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 361 miles
The 2024 Ioniq 6 is the second vehicle in Hyundai’s all-electric sub-brand following the Ioniq 5, and the sedan’s base SE rear-wheel-drive variant with 18-inch wheels immediately lands near the top of this list with an EPA-estimated 361-mile maximum range. Even the Ioniq 6’s base trim offers a ton of features for the money on top of its high range, which helped it earn our Best Value EV pick in Cars.com’s 2024 Affordability Report. Opting for available AWD with the base SE trim drops the maximum range to 316 miles; the larger 20-inch wheels on the RWD SEL trim further reduces the Ioniq 6’s range to 305 miles, but that’s still enough to get a shout-out on this list.
6. Mercedes-EQ EQS Sedan
- Price: $105,550 (including $1,150 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 352 miles
The first all-electric model in Mercedes’ EQ sub-brand, the EQS Sedan, arrived for 2022 as a battery-powered counterpart for the S-Class and a new rival for the Model S. For 2024, the sedan’s RWD single-motor 450+ variant offers the highest range in the lineup at 352 miles. Fortunately, adding dual-motor AWD isn’t much of a range penalty, with both the EQS 450 4Matic and more powerful EQS 580 4Matic versions ringing in at 345 miles of range. Even its most performance-oriented variant, the AMG EQS, still gets 305 miles of range. We were fans of both non-AMG powertrains we tested as well as the sedans’ nimbleness with rear-wheel steering, but we had issues with the large touchscreen display and Mercedes’ decision to rely on lots of touch-sensitive controls.
7. Tesla Model 3
- Price: $49,130 (including $1,390 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 342 miles
It might be the little brother to the Model S in terms of overall size and price, but Tesla’s Model 3 holds its own when it comes to delivering plenty of range. The Model 3’s Long Range variant offers the highest range at 342 miles, but even the Standard Range version offers a useful 272 miles of range. The 2024 updates to its suspension and interior make this the most comfortable and refined Model 3 yet, although we’re not fans of Tesla’s decision to replace the turn signal stalk with touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel.
8. Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV
- Price: $105,550 (including $1,575 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 339 miles
Not to be confused with the Mercedes-EQ EQS Sedan it otherwise confusingly shares its name with, Mercedes’ electric version of the GLS SUV brings a handful of improvements over its lower-riding counterpart, such as a more comfortable second row and a larger cargo area. One area where the EQS SUV falls short of the sedan, however, is maximum range: While the EQS 450+ Sedan’s 352-mile range lands it a couple of spots higher on this list, the EQS 450+ SUV offers a lower maximum range of 339 miles. Just like the sedan, the EQS 450+ SUV also has a single-motor drivetrain with RWD.
9. Tesla Model X
- Price: $79,380 (including $1,390 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 335 miles
Tesla has a strong presence on this list thanks in part to the 335 miles of range offered in the Model X SUV with dual-motor AWD and 20-inch wheels. Quirky features found in the Model X include a massive windshield that arcs over the front seats, rear Falcon Wing doors that open skyward and an available small third-row seat (an option best reserved for small children who need a serious timeout). The Plaid trim needs only 2.5 seconds to sprint from 0-60 mph, but it’s the base AWD variant that delivers the longest range per charge.
10. VinFast VF9
- Price: $69,800 (destination fee TBD)
- Maximum electric driving range: 330 miles
The VinFast VF9 is a three-row full-size electric SUV that’s so new, VinFast hasn’t even finalized the destination fee at the time of writing. The Vietnamese automaker has big plans for its expansion into the American market, including a $2 billion manufacturing facility in North Carolina, but the VF9 is still very much an unknown quantity. Reservations currently are only $200, however, if you’d like to be an early adopter. The VF9 Eco achieved a 330-mile range on the EPA’s test cycle, making it one of the longest-range options on our list.
11. Chevrolet Blazer EV
- Price: $55,595 (including $1,575 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 324 miles
The RWD Blazer EV is the longest-range vehicle on sale that’s based on GM’s modular Ultium EV architecture — yes, even ahead of the ultra-pricey Hummer EV. The RS trim with RWD is good for 324 miles of range, landing Chevy’s zippy electric Blazer comfortably on this list. Our editors found the Blazer EV to be nicely appointed and fun to drive; however, even after March’s price cuts, it’s hard not to recommend paying only a little bit more and giving up 10 miles of range for the even nicer, more powerful Cadillac Lyriq.
12. BMW i7
- Price: $106,695 (including $995 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 321 miles
BMW’s fully electric 7 Series sedan added a slightly longer-range trim to its lineup for 2024: the RWD single-motor i7 eDrive50, which can go a full 321 miles when equipped with 19-inch wheels. Those who still want the more dual-motor AWD i7 xDrive60 won’t suffer too much of a range penalty, either, as that one still achieves a range of 317 miles with 19-inch wheels. In fact, the only i7s with less than 300 miles of range are the more powerful M70 xDrive and the xDrive60 on 20-inch wheels. All in all, we thought BMW’s quiet but powerful electric drivetrains were a perfect match for its luxurious 7 Series sedan.
13. Ford F-150 Lightning
- Price: $70,090 (including $2,095 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 320 miles
The hotly anticipated F-150 Lightning was initially expected to have around 300 miles of range, but the all-electric version of Ford’s popular F-150 pickup beat that estimate, at least for the Flash and Lariat trims. Both of these trims come with the F-150 Lightning’s extended-range battery pack that’s good for a maximum range of 320 miles. The loaded Platinum only comes with the extended-range pack and tops out at 300 miles, while standard-range versions top out at 240 miles of range. We’ve been very impressed with how much the F-150 Lightning manages to feel like a traditional F-150, though buyers will have to pay a premium for the all-electric model.
14. Ford Mustang Mach-E
- Price: $48,890 (including $1,895 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 320 miles
The Ford Mustang Mach-E line got some significant upgrades for 2024, including a lighter, more powerful rear motor, updated battery controls that allow for faster charging and several interface improvements to the infotainment system based on owner feedback. Regardless of whether you believe it’s worthy of Mustang badges, it’s easily worth including on this list, as the RWD Mustang Mach-E with an extended range battery is capable of going 320 miles on a single charge, per the EPA.
15. Polestar 2
- Price: $51,300 (including $1,400 destination)
- Maximum electric driving range: 320 miles
If you love the Polestar 2, there’s one spec you can get for maximum range: the Long Range Single Motor. With its standard 19-inch wheels, this version is good for 320 miles of range. Upgrading to 20-inch wheels still gets 307 miles of range, but steer clear from the dual-motor drivetrain if you’re gunning for maximum range. We were impressed with the Polestar 2’s power, handling and intuitive interior controls, though we were less impressed by the lack of vibrant exterior hues.
16. Chevrolet Equinox EV
- Price: $43,295 (including $1,395 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 319 miles
The Equinox EV is easy to like: It’s a sharp-looking compact SUV that offers a ton of features for the money. GM’s hands-free Super Cruise is available as an option, and the Equinox EV can charge at speeds of up to 150 kilowatts, giving you 77 miles of range in just 10 minutes, per Chevy. To get the most range from the Equinox EV, you’ll want to spec the front-wheel-drive version, which starts at $43,295 in the 2LT trim. AWD adds a significant range penalty, but AWD Equinox EVs still offer 285 miles on a full charge, per the EPA.
17. Cadillac Lyriq
- Price: $58,590 (including $1,395 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 314 miles
The Cadillac Lyriq arrived for 2022 as the luxury brand’s first all-electric model. The SUV comes with a 102-kilowatt-hour battery pack and offers two powertrain options — 340-hp, single-motor RWD and 500-hp, dual-motor AWD — but you’ll want to spec the RWD version to achieve the SUV’s maximum range of 314 miles. New for 2024 are the Tech and Sport variants, the former of which serves as the model’s new base trim.
18. GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV
- Price: $106,945 (including $2,295 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 314 miles
Tied with its Ultium-platform Lyriq sibling despite being a completely different type of vehicle is the GMC Hummer EV, whose three-motor drivetrain configuration achieves 314 miles of range. GMC’s behemoth supertruck also features a gargantuan 246-kWh battery, and we were impressed by its ability to go the distance even though it’s deeply inefficient and can take a while to recharge. Both the three-motor pickup truck and SUV are rated for 314 miles so long as you don’t get the Extreme Off-Road Package with mud-terrain tires, which bumps the Hummer’s range down to 298 miles. The Hummer’s less expensive dual-motor version does not yet have a published rating on the EPA’s website for 2024, but GMC claims it still achieves 303 miles of range in EPA-style tests.
19. Acura ZDX
- Price: $65,850 (including $1,350 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 313 miles
Closely related to the Cadillac Lyriq and other Ultium-platform EVs is the Acura ZDX, a new-for-2024 luxury SUV that hits a sweet spot for buyers looking for a balance between performance and comfort. To get the maximum 313-mile range from the ZDX, you’ll want to get the RWD single-motor A-Spec version, although moving up to dual motors on the A-Spec still nets you an impressive 304 miles of range.
20. Kia EV6
- Price: $47,325 (including $1,375 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 310 miles
“Is it a hatchback? A wagon? An SUV?” It’s hard to say with some of Kia’s vehicles, including the EV6. The EV6 was Kia’s first EV built on a dedicated all-electric platform, and it’s an impressive vehicle with charging speeds of up to 350 kilowatts, a comfortable ride (so long as you’re not too tall) and an impressive amount of standard equipment. Available in multiple trim levels and single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD configurations, the range crown belongs to the RWD Light Long Range, Wind and GT-Line variants with 310 miles.
21. Tesla Model Y
- Price: $49,380 (including $1,390 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 310 miles
With the same platform and powertrain as the Model 3 sedan, the Model Y SUV was introduced for the 2020 model year. Like the Model 3, the Model Y offers quick steering reflexes and enough power to pin you into your seat under hard acceleration. While Tesla says the RWD Long Range version can go for 320 miles on a single charge, the AWD Long Range variant with 19-inch wheels offers the longest EPA-rated range at 310 miles. Shoppers looking for the most power can opt for the AWD Performance trim, which gets 279 miles of range, per the EPA. Cars.com purchased a 2021 Model Y as a long-term test vehicle; you can check out our experience with the car here.
22. BMW i4
- Price: $62,595 (including $995 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 307 miles
BMW recently added a dual-motor AWD xDrive40 trim to its i4 Gran Coupe; it gets 307 miles of range with 18-inch wheels, which is what you’ll want to get the longest-range i4. The single-motor RWD eDrive40 with 18-inch wheels still holds its own with 301 miles of range, so you have choices that offer over 300 miles of range no matter which drivetrain you prefer. As with many other vehicles on the list, when equipped with larger wheels, the price goes up and the range goes down. Like the iX SUV, there’s a more powerful AWD M50 xDrive variant that’s much faster, but its maximum range is just 269 miles. While we wish it had more room inside and a frunk, we were impressed overall with how the i4 drives.
23. BMW iX
- Price: $88,425 (including $1,175 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 307 miles
The iX was BMW’s first electric SUV, and it’s still one of the longer-range options on sale today at 307 miles of range. You can achieve that range in the less powerful xDrive50, as springing for the more powerful M60 drops range to 296 miles. While its styling is certainly polarizing and we weren’t a fan of its capacitive-touch controls, we found our M60 tester to be comfortable, luxurious and fun to drive. All trims come with standard AWD.
24. Mercedes-EQ EQE SUV
- Price: $79,050 (including $1,150 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 307 miles
Not to be confused with the EQE Sedan, the Mercedes-EQ EQE SUV is exactly what the last part of its name says: a mid-size electric crossover. We found the EQE SUV to be a great, well-rounded vehicle, combining high-tech features, practicality, luxury and excellent handling. To get the most range, however, you’ll need to get the RWD, single-motor EQE 350+ SUV, which can eke out 307 miles, per the EPA.
25. Kia EV9
- Price: $60,695 (including $1,495 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 304 miles
The three-row Kia EV9 SUV is one of the most anticipated new models of 2024, and for good reason. Kia’s conventionally powered three-row Telluride is a bestseller after all, and the EV9 is the first SUV of this size at this price. We were impressed with how familiar it feels inside and how spacious it is in all three rows — so impressed that it became the latest member of Cars.com’s long-term test fleet. If you’re looking for maximum range, you’ll want to stick to the Light Long Range RWD variant, which gets 304 miles of range from the EPA.
26. Nissan Ariya
- Price: $42,580 (including $1,390 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 304 miles
Nissan’s newest battery-powered SUV, the Ariya, is available with two battery options: a standard-range 63-kWh battery pack and an extended-range 87-kWh battery. Initially available only with single-motor FWD, the SUV is now also offered with a dual-motor AWD setup for both battery choices. When coupled with FWD in the Venture+ model, the larger battery brings a maximum of 304 miles of range, according to EPA estimates. Meanwhile, the base trim with the smaller battery gets a significantly lower range of 216 miles. Comparable in size to its gas-powered Rogue sibling, the Ariya also drives like a traditional compact SUV with a comfortable ride, precise steering and a quiet cabin.
27. Hyundai Ioniq 5
- Price: $47,225 (including $1,375 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 303 miles
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a comfortable, spacious and affordable SUV that will also do the distance — 303 miles of it, should you spring for an RWD drivetrain and the larger 77.4-kWh battery pack. While we were frustrated by the lack of physical buttons inside, we were impressed by the Ioniq 5’s fast charging speeds, ride quality and efficient drivetrain. Its segment-bending shape feels bright and airy inside, with ample headroom and legroom.
28. Audi Q8 Sportback E-Tron
- Price: $78,995 (including $1,195 destination fee)
- Maximum electric driving range: 300 miles
The old Audi E-Tron is now the Q8 e-Tron for 2024, and with it comes a boost in range as well as a choice between a regular SUV body and the more raked Sportback roof. Just making the cut for our list is the Audi Q8 Sportback E-Tron, which gets an EPA-estimated 300 miles of range when equipped with the Ultra Package. The Ultra Package features 19-inch aero-design wheels, low-rolling resistance tires and extra efficiency programming for its air suspension, so it’s the box to check if you’re looking for the most miles.
