Electric Vehicle tax credits from light-duty vehicles and trucks

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Colorado recently celebrated the start of electric vehicle tax credits for light-duty vehicles and trucks.

General Manager of Red Rock Kia Rob Fisher talked with WesternSlopeNow about the tax credit and the benefits it offers to customers.

“With Kia and specifically here to Colorado residents. The tax credit, as long as you finance the vehicle it can be leased or financed. They are going to go ahead and collect that for you. So, it’s a $5,600 tax credit, there is a $250 processing fee, so the user ends up collecting $5,350 from the state of Colorado that is collected from Kia for you. So, you don’t have to do anything with any of it. Now, if you were to purchase the vehicle and say you paid with cash outright, you would do that on your taxes. But when you finance it or lease it, they do it for you.”

Fisher says Kia’s GT line, the EV6, comes with a $9,000 rebate. Other local car dealers with EVs offer a similar rebate.
