Event allows people to kick the tires on electric vehicles

BUFFALO, N.Y. — For people who are curious about electric vehicles, a recent event allowed them to kick the tires, so to speak. There were cars on display at the Lexington Co-op.

To celebrate Earth Week and Drive Electric Earth Month, local EV enthusiasts invited the community out to learn more about making the switch. It gave people the opportunity to ask their own neighbors questions about what it’s like to drive electric each day.

“I think people want to get the electric cars. They just need to have a little bit of encouragement and a little education to find out that it’s not as bad as some folks would make it sound,” Dave Otminski, president of the Western New York Electric Vehicle Association, told 2 On Your Side.

The Lexington Co-op already has two Charge Point stations installed at its Hertel Avenue location. Organizers used those to give demonstrations on how it works.
