Fahmi commends MCMC for winning telecommunications award in Netherlands
KUCHING (May 25): Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today has commended the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for its international accolade at the Geospatial World Excellence Awards 2024 recently.
MCMC won an award in the telecommunications category for Communications Infrastructure Permit Management (CIMP) System during the award presentation ceremony held at Rotterdam, the Netherlands last week.
“The award ceremony saw more than 200 organisations competing, with only eight winners worldwide, including MCMC.
“The award-winning system is utilised by over 1,000 users nationwide, primarily local authorities (PBT), to manage telecommunications infrastructure.
“This system not only helps identify radio antennas and other equipment that need permit updates for the year but also aids in increasing revenue for local authorities. Therefore, I would like to congratulate MCMC on this achievement,” he said.
Fahmi was speaking to reporters when met after officiating at the 2024 National Journalists’ Day (Hawana) exhibition at Plaza Merdeka here today.
He also welcomed journalists and media practitioners from over 11 countries attending this year’s Hawana, with six countries represented from the Southeast Asian region.
“I hope that next year, under Malaysia’s chairmanship of Asean for Hawana 2025, we will be able to invite journalists representing all countries in the Southeast Asian region.
“We look forward to the events tomorrow and the day after,” he said.
On another note, Fahmi hinted at significant announcements from the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and himself on Monday.
“Insya-Allah, we hope for some good news from the prime minister, and God willing, from myself on Monday,” he said.
