Finland’s One Click LCA acquires French proptech generative AI platform Buildrz
Helsinki-based One Click LCA, a life-cycle assessment software for construction and manufacturing, has acquired Buildrz, a Paris-based company that provides generative AI software for real estate analysis.
Manuel Verrier, CEO of Buildrz, says, “A real estate project is always a complex balance between technical, economic, and environmental requirements, and we are thrilled to combine Buildrz’s generative design with One Click LCA’s expertise for carbon and sustainability.”
“Joining forces with One Click LCA allows us to reach a global user base and provide critical solutions to transform the construction industry to become more efficient and sustainable.”
Buildrz: simplifying and enhancing real estate development
Founded in 2016, Buildrz offers comprehensive support to property developers, architects, and local authorities throughout various stages of real estate development projects—from site sourcing to the permitting process.
The company offers a SaaS-based platform tailored for real estate development. It enables developers and architects to leverage generative design, optimising buildable surfaces while adhering to urban planning regulations.
By using urban plan databases, Buildrz evaluates factors like land use change, net zero artificialisation, views, daylighting, and economic project value. This assists customers in identifying and qualifying sites that present the best economic opportunities.
Manuel Verrier, founder and CEO of Buildrz, says, “At Buildrz, our goal is to provide developers and architects the tools to build more effectively and responsibly amid growing regulations and requirements.”
“Powered by artificial intelligence and open data, our comprehensive platform allows users to go deeper in their analysis and make faster decisions at all project phases, ultimately saving developer teams an average of €100,000 annually.”
Currently, Buildrz serves approximately 50 customers across France.
Aim of the acquisition
In late 2023, One Click LCA received a €40M funding to support global expansion. The acquisition of Buildrz enhances One Click LCA’s goal of becoming a leading end-to-end sustainability software platform for construction and manufacturing.
In addition to Buildrz’s strengths, One Click LCA supports architects, developers, and others in the construction industry by helping them decarbonise projects through global life-cycle assessment, environmental product declarations, and sustainability solutions.
With this deal, One Click LCA aims to offer its users integrated feasibility studies, cost analyses, and carbon assessments powered by generative AI.
The collaboration will enable users to identify low-carbon projects early in the process, ensuring code compliance even before design begins.
Panu Pasanen, founder and CEO of One Click LCA, says, “We’re very excited to join forces with Buildrz, and will be working together to bring out new tools that allow reducing cost and carbon emissions of projects starting from the pre-design stage, in France and globally.”
“Generative design significantly upgrades the capability of the real estate industry, and allows creating better projects faster, which also are more successful in planning applications.”
“With Buildrz, we pursue our strategy of global expansion, with an enhanced presence in France, and delivering to our users an end-to-end sustainability software platform for the built environment.”
The first collaborative solutions are scheduled to launch by the end of the year and will be accessible to customers through One Click LCA. Plans also include integrating existing tools from both platforms.
With Buildrz, One Click LCA will extend its services to customers in over 170 countries worldwide.
