Fivetran extends partnership with Snowflake for AI data initiatives

Fivetran, a specialist in data integration, has announced an extension of its partnership with Snowflake, the AI Data Cloud company. This collaboration aims to enhance enterprise data initiatives through the introduction of Iceberg Table support and the development of Native Connectors for Snowflake. the company states. These announcements were made at the Snowflake Data Cloud Summit 2024.

Fivetran’s integration with Iceberg Tables allows Snowflake customers to establish a lakehouse architecture using Apache Iceberg within the Snowflake ecosystem. This integration ensures automated and scalable data management, enhancing data quality and governance. Customers can thus avoid the complexity and governance issues that often impede widespread data lake adoption.

Additionally, Fivetran will be developing Native Connectors, providing a direct method for Snowflake customers to utilise Fivetran’s data connectors from the Snowflake Marketplace. These connectors, built using Snowflake’s Snowpark Container Services, aim to streamline data replication into the AI Data Cloud and will be accessible publicly via the Snowflake Marketplace.

Kieran Kennedy, Head of Snowflake Marketplace, expressed enthusiasm about the deepened partnership. He highlighted that Fivetran’s innovative data integration capabilities would enable native connector operation within customer accounts, eschewing the need for external data access. This approach promises enterprise-grade security, simplified procurement processes, and expedited time to value.

Fivetran has been recognised as Snowflake Technology Partner of the Year four times and holds 10 Snowflake industry competency badges. Trusted by over 6,000 companies globally, Fivetran meets stringent security requirements and continually invests in innovations critical to enterprise success. The integration of Iceberg Table Support is expected to deliver a fully governed, cleansed, and query-ready data lake without manual maintenance. Moreover, Native Connectors for Snowflake will grant organisations complete data control, allowing them to manage pipelines within their local Snowflake environment as seamlessly as they would in a cloud setting. Notably, these connectors will only share metadata between Fivetran and the Snowflake customer account.

George Fraser, CEO of Fivetran, stated, “Offering Iceberg Table Support and new Native Connectors for Snowflake customers to leverage in the AI Data Cloud marks a significant advancement in our partnership. Organisations can easily move data from business-critical SaaS applications, databases and ERP systems to Snowflake, where they can use it for data-driven decisions and AI/ML workloads.”

Ryan Bosshart, CEO of phData, commented on the announcement’s impact. “Organisations need access to data to improve operational efficiency, run predictive analytics with AI, build large language models and deliver trusted data products. Fivetran’s support for Iceberg Tables and Native Connectors for Snowflake will accelerate enterprise adoption of advanced analytics on a global scale. We are proud to partner with Snowflake and Fivetran to deliver impactful client solutions while fostering cultures of innovation to drive business success,” he said.

This expanded partnership between Fivetran and Snowflake underscores a strong commitment to driving innovation and delivering high-quality data integration solutions that meet the evolving needs of global enterprises. The combined capabilities of these two industry leaders are poised to significantly advance the landscape of AI, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
