Ford F 150 Lightning SuperTruck EV Release Info

Ford has revealed its latest innovation, the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck EV demonstrator, designed in partnership with STARD. The camouflaged vehicle is set to undergo rigorous testing next week at the renowned Pikes Peak, known as “America’s Mountain.”

The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck is an advanced electric vehicle inspired by the F-150 Lightning. It features aerodynamic enhancements that generate 6,000 lbs of downforce at 150 mph, a critical factor for the challenging Pikes Peak course. This project is part of Ford’s broader effort to push the boundaries of electric powertrain research and development.

Insights gained from the Pikes Peak program will inform the software calibration and battery cell chemistry of Ford’s production vehicles and future race programs. This initiative follows the success of Ford’s Electric SuperVan 4.2, which set a new Open Class record at Pikes Peak in 2023 with a time of 8:47.682 on the 20km course.

The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck is a successor to the F-150 Lightning Switchgear, a high-performance on- and off-road demonstrator unveiled in January 2024. The Switchgear, built on a production Lightning platform, features a reinforced suspension, carbon composite panels and skid plates, showcasing the potential of electric vehicles.

On June 23, the newly unveiled F-150 Lightning SuperTruck EV demonstrator will take on the course, piloted by renowned driver and current Pikes Peak International Hill Climb record holder, Roman Dumas.
