FPL debuts new EV public fast chargers as Broward lifts the state in number of EV drivers

Broward County is leading the charge when it comes to electric vehicle registrations in Florida.

The latest data from research group IHS Markit shows Broward is the second largest county in the state with more than 28,000 electric vehicle registrations so far this year, just behind Miami-Dade.

With more EV drivers on the road, Florida Power and Light Company’s EVolution® program is expanding its public charging stations, opening a new fast charger in Coconut Creek.

The new Coconut Creek amenity is part of the Village Shoppes near the Sawgrass Expressway, offering EV drivers the convenience of plugging in while they visit a local eatery or do some shopping.

Each FPL EVolution fast charger station features four charging ports, which can each power up most EVs in about a half hour.

This location is among more than 70 new public charging stations FPL is adding across its service area this year to give EV drivers more confidence on the road.
