GBA trip to foster entrepreneurship
Hong Kong Baptist University recently organized a Greater Bay Area start-up exploration trip to foster entrepreneurship among its students.
A team of approximately 20 students participated in the trip, which involved visiting start-up facilities and technology companies in Nansha and Guangzhou. The Entrepreneurial Learning Team of HKBU Career Centre coordinated the itinerary.
During their visit, the students had the valuable opportunity to engage with young entrepreneurs at the Innovation Bay in Nansha. This location served as an incubation hub for numerous start-ups including those from Hong Kong and Macau. Additionally, they interacted with students from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), further expanding their network and knowledge.
As part of the trip’s objectives to enhance students’ awareness of environmental, social, and governance issues, various activities were arranged to expose them to urban mobility technologies. They had the chance to ride in self-driving Robotaxis and the Guangzhou Tram. Furthermore, they visited XPeng Motors, an electric vehicle manufacturer based in Guangzhou, to gain insights into the advancements in sustainable transportation.
In addition to the tech-focused visits, the students also had the opportunity to explore the field of agritech. They visited Xag, an agritech firm that utilizes drones and remote vehicles for tasks such as sowing seeds, fertilizing, and watering. This innovative approach helps save manpower and improve efficiency in agriculture.
The Greater Bay Area start-up exploration trip aimed to inspire and encourage entrepreneurship among the students of Hong Kong Baptist University. By exposing them to start-up ecosystems, innovative technologies, and socially responsible business practices, the university hopes to nurture a new generation of entrepreneurial leaders who are equipped to tackle real-world challenges.
Last month, the Entrepreneurial Learning Team has organized a trip to the Canton Fair.
