Pittsburgh-based Gecko Robotics announced it and Al Masaood Energy had entered into a multi-year contract with ADNOC Gas, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

ADNOC Gas, an integrated gas processing company, will invest up to $110 million Dirhams ($30 million US) for the implementation of Gecko’s industry-leading robots and AI-powered data platform across its sites. The robots and platform will assist in predictive maintenance to increase efficiencies, reduce downtime and CO2 emissions, while maintaining HSE best practices for employee and contractor safety.

“ADNOC and the UAE are at the forefront of using Industry 4.0 tools to boost efficiency and decrease their carbon footprint – and the world is noticing,” Jake Loosararian, co-founder and CEO of Gecko Robotics, said. “His Excellency Dr. Sultan al-Jabar’s leadership on the world stage at COP28 speaks to ADNOC’s commitment to using new technology to reduce carbon emissions and Gecko is proud to enlist our robots and software to that cause. Great things are happening in the UAE and we’re excited to continue to increase our footprint as part of the NextGenFDI initiative.”

ADNOC Gas will use Gecko’s wall-climbing robots that are designed to build sophisticated digital maps of critical assets, and well as its software platform, Cantilever, which takes data and combines it with operational data for repairs and maintenance. Gecko said many companies and government agencies use its software to extend the lifespan and efficiency of critical infrastructure. Gecko’s work for ADNCO Gas will include a new model for predictive maintenance that allows for inspections while components are online.

“This partnership serves as a compelling demonstration of how cutting-edge technologies can be instrumental in realizing the nation’s ambitious net zero objectives” Ahmad El Tannir, General Manager of Al Masaood Energy, said.
