Germany Warns of Generative AI’s Privacy Pitfalls Under EU Law
Use of generative artificial intelligence can lead to a host of problems under EU privacy law, the German data protection authority warned Monday.
Entities responsible for AI systems must ensure that individuals can exercise their right to correct inaccurate information about themselves under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, the German authority, the Datenschutzkonferenz (DSK), said in guidance.
While AI providers often include disclaimers warning of the potential for factually unreliable results caused by AI hallucinations, that’s not sufficient when the inaccurate data pertains to an individual, the DSK said.
