Google Cloud’s Cybersecurity VP Leaves For Vectra AI

“I’m excited to work with a team that has built a truly differentiated approach to helping customers cut through the noise to detect hybrid cyber-attacks quickly and at scale,” said Jeff Reed, Vectra AI’s new chief product officer.

Cybersecurity all-star Jeff Reed has left Google Cloud to join security firm Vectra AI with the goal of taking the company’s cyber solutions to the next level as its first-ever Chief Product Officer.

Reed was Google Cloud’s vice president of product for cloud security, officially exiting the $37 billion cloud giant in March, according to his LinkedIn profile. Reed also has over 20 years of experience working in top cybersecurity executive positions at Cisco and Symantec.

“I’m excited to work with a team that has built a truly differentiated approach to helping customers cut through the noise to detect hybrid cyber-attacks quickly and at scale,” said Reed in a statement.

Who Is Vectra AI?

San Jose, Calif.-based Vectra AI specializes in offering XDR (extended detection and response) software that correlates threats across environments and devices.

Vectra AI—named in CRN’s 20 Hottest AI Cybersecurity Companies in 2024—recently debuted a detection and response platform that utilizes patented AI-powered technology, called the Attack Signal Intelligence, with the goal of arming security operations teams with enhanced prioritization of threats.

The Vectra AI Platform delivers an integrated signal across public cloud, SaaS, identity and data center networks in a single platform.

Google Cloud has poured millions into developing a new AI and generative AI portfolio over the past 18 months with Google Gemini, including new AI security offerings.

Jeff Reed’s Role

Reed will be responsible for strategy across all product-related initiatives at Vectra AI, such as engineering, product management, product and technical marketing, and customer support.

He will also oversee the company’s operations and delivering strategic direction to further drive exceptional value.

Vectra AI’s CEO Hitesh Sheth said he will work closely with Reed to continue to set a “new standard” for threat detection and response while helping teams manage their growing workloads.

“Jeff brings diverse expertise and rich experience to our team at a time when AI is redefining how we detect threats and prioritize attacks,” said Sheth.
