The “Google AI Fundamentals” course seeks to teach people with no prior experience in the digital field, using short and practical modules that can be completed in less than ten hours
Ramiro Sanchez, Marketing Director of Google Latin America, has announced a new initiative with the objective of training 120,000 people in Latin America in digital skills and artificial intelligence (AI). The company will grant these scholarships in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru during the year 2024.
“To embrace this opportunity, it is crucial to invest in the training and development of people’s digital skills to improve productivity and be ready for the universe of options that the future presents us,” said Ramiro Sánchez.
Furthermore, he explained how technology has had a transformative impact since Google introduced itself to the world as an “AI-First” company in 2016, opening doors to innovation and digital transformation. “We believe in the transformative power of education, which is why we remain committed to democratizing access to knowledge in digital skills.”
As part of this commitment, the “Grow with Google” program launched the “Google AI Fundamentals” course, designed so that anyone, without the need for prior knowledge or experience, can learn about AI in less than ten hours, said Sánchez. . “Inspired by this approach, we designed the ‘Google AI Fundamentals’ course… so people can gain new knowledge in shorter courses.”
What does the Grow with Google course have to learn AI
The course, made up of five modules with theoretical content, videos and interactive exercises, will allow you to learn how to use artificial intelligence tools to generate new ideas, concepts, strategies and tactics for a product or service.
“People will learn to use Artificial Intelligence tools to generate new ideas, concepts, strategies and tactics for a product or service,” said Sánchez. Additionally, participants will be trained to make more informed decisions and streamline daily work tasks.
Likewise, he highlighted that the courses will be taught by artificial intelligence experts from various areas within Google, with the aim of debunking myths and clarifying what AI is and what it is not. “Once the course is completed, registered people will be able to obtain a Google certificate,” he said.
Since 2000, Ramiro Sánchez has closely observed the impact of technology on daily life, both personally and professionally. “I have always been captivated by the transformative impact of technology on people, society and businesses,” he said. “From improving our quality of life, using it for example in daily transportation… to boosting business.”
In addition to the AI courses, Google offers Career Certificates within the same “Grow with Google” program, which seek to provide participants with new practical skills in high-demand technological areas.
According to Sánchez, there are already more than 50,500 graduates in Latin America and 75% of them have reported a positive impact on their careers in the first six months after graduation. “We believe in the transformative power of education, which is why we remain committed to democratizing access to knowledge in digital skills and Artificial Intelligence,” he added.
Likewise, he mentioned that the recent report called “AI Sprinters” reveals how this technology will help find solutions to major challenges in emerging markets, so “to ensure that more citizens of Latin America are trained, I am proud to announce that from “Google will grant 120,000 scholarships for these programs.”
Finally, Google plans to announce the scholarship allocation process for each country in the coming months. “They will be delivered during 2024, and we will announce the allocation process for each country over the next few months,” he assured.
With this initiative, Google reinforces its commitment to education and development in Latin America, preparing its citizens for the challenges and opportunities of the digital future.
