Health, social services programs remain available throughout telecommunications outages
The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) health and social services programs and services remain available throughout telecommunications outages. Processes for accessing care and services may be adjusted locally, but the following applies:
- If you cannot reach your health centre or local hospital by phone, go in person for any urgent needs.
- If you need information about your medical travel and are accessing services through the NWT Medical Travel Program, the backup phone number is 867-446-6828.
- If you have an urgent issue that requires assistance from child and family services and cannot reach the on-call emergency number, go to your local health centre.
- If you have a family member in care that you are trying to reach, either go in person during visitation hours or try reaching them by online services such as Messenger, FaceTime, or WhatsApp, as internet services remain available in many areas.
More information about health and social services will be provided via the NTHSSA website and on the NTHSSA Facebook page.
