Henry County Commission looking to strengthen cybersecurity for elections and more
HENRY COUNTY, Ala. (WTVY) – Henry County Commissioners are working to strengthen cybersecurity.
The commission plans to apply for the Alabama State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program.
The money will help keep sensitive information on any of the county systems secure.
Probate Judge David Money considers this an important step when it comes to elections.
”There is a big emphasis on elections and cybersecurity and stuff like that. We take a lot of time and put a lot of preparation into an election and we are already working on the November election, which will be a general election, a big election. So, that is a grant we are going to utilize, because there is no cost for the county on that and it will help us I think,” Money said.
A bill requiring post-election audits died in the Alabama Senate in the recent legislative session.
Money says adding the extra security is important not only for elections but for general bookkeeping of the county.
