Hermantown Robotics Team Kicks of Journey to World Championship
HERMANTOWN, Minn. — The Hermantown Highschool Robotics team kicked off their trek to the World Championship in style with a police escort on Monday.
The Talons are making their return to the World Championship for the second year in a row. The team packed up a bus and headed to Houston, Texas where the competition is held each year. The bus was joined by members of the Hermantown Police and Fire Departments who gave them an escort out of the town. Family and friends also cheered on the team before they kicked off their journey.
“I feel really proud of how far this team has gone. Like I did this just to hang out with my friends, as just a fun thing. But how big this became and now a lot of like people from the school are feeling inspired by us,” said team member Madelyn Jaros.
“We don’t have the spotlight a whole lot, or we didn’t before last year‐this year. So, it’s really nice to have eyes on us,” said Emma Klyn, Scouting and Strategical Captain.
After 20 plus hours on the bus the Talons arrive in Houston, once there they will compete against robotics teams from across the globe.
