How you can get a 2500 tax refund for buying an Electric Vehicle?

Even though federal stimulus checks have ended, several states continue to provide direct payments to help residents cope with economic challenges and inflation.

These payments not only offer financial relief but also encourage sustainable energy practices such as purchasing electric vehicles or installing clean energy solutions.

Delaware has extended its Clean Transportation Incentive Program until April 30, 2025. This initiative provides residents with a $2,500 refund on electric vehicles, including plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles.

Since its launch in 2015, the program has issued around 5,500 refunds, totaling $12.8 million. However, this year, the program has shifted its focus exclusively to electric vehicles, removing incentives for cars using propane or natural gas.

To receive a vehicle rebate from Delaware, first register as a “supplier” through the Division of Accounting eSupplier Portal. Review the New Supplier Registration Guide or instructional video for details, and check the Questions and Answers page to ensure accuracy. Once approved, you’ll get a Supplier ID number needed for your application.

Apply for the rebate at driveelectricdelaware.org and expect to wait 8 to 10 weeks to receive it.

Georgia’s E-Bike rebate program

In Atlanta, residents can benefit from a $1,000 rebate for purchasing an e-bike this month. The application process for the week-long sweepstakes opens on June 16 and requires proof of residency. Rebecca Serna, a spokesperson for Propel ATL, emphasized the city’s efforts to make streets safer and more accessible for different modes of transportation.

The Atlanta Regional Commission anticipates that the $1 million program will introduce 800 to 1,000 new e-bikes, reducing the city’s carbon footprint and enhancing job access for low-income residents. Those earning $54,000 or less annually are eligible for a $1,500 rebate for a standard e-bike and $2,000 for a cargo e-bike, while higher earners can receive $500 for a standard e-bike and $1,000 for a cargo e-bike.
