Every year, May 17 brings back the celebration of the d by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). This year, the theme chosen is “Digital innovation for sustainable development”.

The Executive Body of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) celebrates, in a difficult context, this World Day which aims to recall the crucial role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in socio-economic development.

This theme centered on innovation for sustainable development should be an incentive for all stakeholders in the telecommunications ecosystem in Haiti to contribute significantly to sustainable development by exploiting the innovative potential of ICT.

The projects underway at CONATEL correspond to the innovation that underpins sustainable development. The regulator intends to work hard to complete as quickly as possible the projects to strengthen cyber security, the implementation of electronic signatures and the finalization of the transition process to digital television, among others.

On this World Telecommunications Day, CONATEL reaffirms its commitment to promoting equitable access to ICTs throughout the country. CONATEL works to ensure that access to the Internet and high-speed communication services truly becomes a pure convenience in Haiti, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of individuals, institutions and communities, and encouraging socio-economic development.
