INDOT to gather feedback for ‘Charging the Crossroads’ EV program
INDIANAPOLIS (WANE) — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will solicit feedback and give updates on their ‘Charging the Crossroads‘ program through a series of public information meetings, INDOT announced Tuesday.
The meetings, to be held in various locations around the state in June and July, will allow Indiana residents to hear program updates and provide input on charging station locations and equity metrics.
‘Charging the Crossroads’ hopes to expand Indiana’s electric vehicle (EV) charging network, as part of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program within the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that aims to implement at least 500,000 EV charging stations by 2030.
INDOT awarded EV charging stations to 39 sites in March, including two sites in Fort Wayne at I-69 exit 316 and I-469 exit 19, respectively. The charging stations awarded in the first round will be installed beginning in 2025, and INDOT will release a second round of applications for EV charging stations through a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) later in the year.
