Joe Levy Assumes CEO Role at cybersecurity company, Sophos
Cybersecurity solutions company, Sophos, has appointed Joe Levy as its CEO.
Levy, who has been serving as acting CEO since 15 February, brings nearly three decades of experience in cybersecurity product development and leadership to his new role.
Sophos said during his nine-year tenure at Sophos, Levy played a pivotal role in transforming the company. Under his leadership, Sophos expanded its offerings to include an incident response team and managed detection and response (MDR) service, safeguarding over 21,000 organisations worldwide.
Levy also spearheaded the creation of SophosAI and Sophos X-Ops, an operational threat intelligence unit comprising over 500 cybersecurity operators and threat intelligence experts. Sophos said this initiative enhanced Sophos’ ability to defend against cyber threats by sharing real-time and historical attack data across its solutions.
Levy’s vision for Sophos includes further expanding its customer base in the mid-market segment, which encompasses nearly 600,000 customers worldwide and generates over £941 million ($1.2 billion) in annual revenue. By providing cybersecurity solutions tailored to the needs of mid-sized organsations, Sophos aims to address the escalating threat landscape facing these entities, as highlighted in the company’s Active Adversary report and 2024 Threat Report.
In his role as CEO, Levy plans to collaborate closely with Managed Security Providers (MSPs) and channel partners to scale the adoption of Sophos’ innovative technologies and managed services. By empowering mid-market organisations with robust cybersecurity defenses, Sophos aims to mitigate the economic repercussions of cyberattacks on global supply chains.
Joining Levy’s senior management team is Jim Dildine, who assumes the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Sophos. With over 30 years of experience in technology and finance, Dildine brings a wealth of operational expertise and channel partner-based cybersecurity business acumen to his new role.
His previous positions include CFO roles at cybersecurity firms Imperva and Symantec’s enterprise security business unit, where he played instrumental roles in driving growth and strategic acquisitions.
Partner at Thoma Bravo and Sophos board member, Chip Virnig, expressed confidence in Levy and Dildine’s leadership, citing their proven track record of success in the cybersecurity industry. Investment firm, Thoma Bravo, has a longstanding partnership with Levy and Dildine, further underscoring their suitability for guiding Sophos through its next phase of growth.
