Kaseya Attacker Sentenced, Globant and F1, IBM on AWS

A. Today’s Tech, Channel and MSP News

What a week! Here’s what we’re looking at this Friday. The attacker responsible for the July 2021 ransomware attack on Kaseya was sentenced this week to more than 13 years in prison, Globant is teaming up with F1 to improve digital services, IBM is expanding its offerings on the AWS Marketplace and more.

Unified cybersecurity platform Guardz is integrating with the SuperOps PSA-RMM platform. This is great for MSPs, who will be able to access information and alerts from the Guardz platform directly within their SuperOps accounts, so they can manage their clients’ cybersecurity posture within their existing SuperOps environment.

Are you a thought leader in managed services or managed security services, or do you have a unique approach to an important topic that could help other MSPs or MSSPs? We’re looking for speakers like you to be part of our MSSP Alert Live program for 2024. MSSP Alert Live, the premiere cybersecurity event for MSPs and MSSPs, has opened its call for papers. (You can submit yours here.) We’re looking for speakers like you who want to share insights and experience and wisdom with peers.

If you’re an MSP that partners with public cloud service providers, it’s time for you to step up and get recognized. ChannelE2E opened its annual Top 250 Public Cloud MSPs survey. This is the survey that we use to create our annual Top 250 Public Cloud MSPs ranked list. Here’s the link to participate.

And please send your news tips, information, and industry chatter to senior managing editor [email protected].

1. Globant, F1 Partner to Accelerate Digital: Get it? Accelerate? Wow, tough crowd. The story: Digital consultancy and software developer Globant is partnering with Formula 1 in a multi-year deal to “elevate the digital experiences for both F1 teams and fans. As an ‘Official Partner,’ Globant will support Formula 1 in building best-in-class IT systems and products,” the organizations said in a statement. As its first project, Globant – with 29,000+ professionals and a presence in 33 countries – will “transform and enhance the at-event digital experiences for F1 fans and key stakeholders, including the content delivery system used on the pit wall, a real-time streaming solution that provides F1 and key stakeholders with unique multi-channel media.”

2. Guardz Integrates With SuperOps PSA-RMM: Guardz is partnering with SuperOps to integrate Guardz’s AI-powered, unified cybersecurity platform with the SuperOps PSA-RMM platform. This integration, which makes information and alerts from the Guardz platform available directly within the SuperOps accounts, empowers MSPs to efficiently manage their clients’ cybersecurity posture within their existing SuperOps environment and simplifies customer support processes.

3. IBM on AWS Expansion: IBM is expanding availability of its software portfolio on the AWS Marketplace to 92 countries. The expansion beyond Denmark, France, Germany, United Kingdom and United States, where the software is currently available, will help make procurement easier while allowing clients and customers to use their AWS committed spend for IBM software purchases. The expansion gives greater client access to IBM’s AI and data technologies, including 44 listings and 29 SaaS offerings available for purchase, including automation, security and sustainability software, IBM said in a statement. Clients can also access much of the watsonx data and AI platform on the marketplace, which IBM said is highly important as clients are considering generative AI technology. IBM is also launching 15 new IBM Consulting professional services and assets on the marketplace exclusively designed for AWS.

4. Kaseya Ransomware Attacker Sentenced: In a bit of poetic justice, as Kaseya Connect wrapped up this week, our sister site MSSP Alert reported that Ukrainian national Yaroslav Vasinskyi, was sentenced to 13 years and seven months in prison for his role in more than 2,500 ransomware attacks, including the July 2021 attack on Kaseya. The U.S. Department of Justice, in a statement, said 24-year-old Vasinskyi, whose aliases include Rabotnik, Profcomserv and Yarik45, and who pleaded guilty in 2022 – must also pay more than $16 million in restitution for conducting those attacks, during which he demanded more than $700 million in ransom payments.

5. Time for Cloud MSPs to get recognized – Are you an MSP that works with public cloud providers? It’s time to get recognized for your work. ChannelE2E opened its annual survey for the Top 250 Public Cloud MSPs. If your MSP practice includes working with a public cloud provider, this survey is for you. Participation is free. The survey closes in June. Submit your MSP today here for recognition! Our list will be released this summer.
