On May 23, Kia took the wraps off the Kia EV3, the company’s exclusive compact electric SUV that will promote the popularization of electric vehicles.

“The EV3 is a compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) that will lead the popularization of electric vehicles and deliver a new customer experience in the era of electrified mobility,” said Kia CEO Song Ho-sung at the online global press conference for The Kia EV3. “It is the embodiment of Kia’s commitment to becoming a sustainable mobility solutions provider.”

The EV3 is Kia’s third electric vehicle following the EV6, the automaker’s first E-GMP-based electric vehicle launched in 2021, and the EV9, its large flagship SUV launched in 2023.

The EV3 is available in two different battery capacities — a long-range model with an 81.4-kilowatt-hour battery and a standard model with a 58.3-kilowatt-hour battery. The long range model has 17-inch wheels and mileage of 501 kilometers per charge certified by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). It takes 31 minutes to charge the EV3’s battery from 10 percent to 80 percent with a 350-kilowatt charger.

The EV3’s front-wheel motor delivers a maximum output of 150 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 283 Nm. The EV3 is loaded with innovative connectivity features including Kia AI Assistant, a first for a Kia EV, as well as in-car entertainment and display themes. Advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) such as Lane Keep Assist 2 and Highway Driving Assist 2 help EV3 owners drive safely and conveniently.

“The EV3’s prices may vary depending on the EV3’s specifications and trim, but we think the global price of the EV3 will be between US$35,000 and US$50,000,” Song said. “In Korea, we want to start its prices from the mid-30 million won range because of government EV subsidies.”
