With the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race beginning Saturday, Salomon is joining forces for the second time with L’Art De L’Automobile, the luxury car dealer with a more far-reaching merch arm that adds the “Kar” suffix.
The Kar L’Art De L’Automobile x Salomon XT-4 and Speedcross 3 will release ahead of the weekend with red, white and blue color schemes inspired by the legendary race. The XT-4 is the more white dominant of the two sneakers but features blue flame detailing to match the Porsche 911 GT1-98 that appears in the collection’s campaign. “Kar” branding replaces the “Lab” on the Salomon Lab toe logo, while “L’Art De L’Automobile” is printed in gold on the tongue’s nylon webbing. Salomon’s name is also rendered in gold on the red TPU overlay.
A blue and red gradient mesh forms the base of the Speedcross 3, which then gets white and gold TPU reinforcements. A different “Kar” mark is stamped onto the toe, and “L’Art” is slapped in gold atop the tongue’s usual branded nylon webbing.
The Porsche 911 GT1-98 finished first and second at the 1998 Le Mans race to give Porsche its record-breaking 16th win at the event. A graphic featuring the car with custom decals also appears on a T-shirt releasing alongside the sneakers.
Kar L’Art De L’Automobile and Salomon collaborated for the first time in 2022 on the ACS Pro Advanced in two bright colorways, one in blue and pink and the other in green, orange and yellow.
The Kar L’Art De L’Automobile x Salomon XT-4 and Speedcross 3 will release Friday, June 14, through the former party’s website. Pricing for the sneakers has not yet been announced.
