Lee Elementary entrepreneurship fair
LEE, MA. – Students at Lee Elementary School took part in their first entrepreneurship fair on Wednesday.
The students learned how to create their own business and deal with finances based on a book they read in school.
Students read Ty Allen Jackson’s “Make Your Own Money,” and created a business special to them and their talents.
Students created business cards, slideshows, boards and came up with a pitch to present their ideas.
They learned how to write a business plan and create their own budget.
Some businesses included a dog-walking service, tree removal, babysitting, as well as businesses selling food and drinks.
“Financial literacy is something Lee Public Schools is interested in developing from K-12, and so fifth grade has always done projects with financial literacy, and this was really the cake topper in terms of getting kids to understand and use vocabulary like credit score, and investment account, savings account,” said fifth-grade teacher Michele Puleri.
The author was there to speak with the kids about their businesses and sign books. Some students said this helped them learn how to take care of money and push them to pursue their business later in life.
