Local university offering AI courses starting in the fall

The university is offering eight new academic programs next year, including Artificial Intelligence Literacy.

SYLVANIA, Ohio — Staff at the Lourdes University are thrilled to unveil new academic programs for the upcoming academic year, including one that focuses on Artificial Intelligence, or A.I.

In total there will be 8 new programs, 5 majors and 3 minors.

The new majors are Environmental Studies, Business Analytics, Cybersecurity,Data Science, and Supply Chain Management, which are all structured to be 4-year programs.

But it’s the A.I. minor that has Dr. Terry Keller, Provost with Lourdes University especially excited.

Dr. Keller explains how the A.I. courses will work.

“We’re looking at kind of starting out with A.I., taking a look at what is it,” said Keller. “I think there’s some misconceptions out there, what it is and isn’t. But really looking at A.I. in a broad piece.”

Lourdes academic departments say they’re excited to expand their educational catalog with the addition of A.I.

“And, you know, as we look to work with our faculty and work with our team here at the university, is to build kind of this minor that starts to gain or have our students gain some exposure and understanding to the world of A.I., which is changing every single day” said Keller.
