Malta’s authorities take delivery of 250 electric vehicles
Details of the electric vehicles were not disclosed. The government of the Mediterranean island put the procurement of 250 new electric vehicles for its own fleet out to tender at the beginning of 2023 and divided it into four lots for 194 five-passenger cars, 30 eight-passenger vehicles, 16 small commercial vehicles and ten large commercial vehicles.
The government announced at the time that the “ambitious” project would not only replace internal combustion vehicles in its own fleet with electric cars, but also reduce the size of the fleet itself. A new car-sharing concept, which is being introduced in the ministries, is intended to increase vehicle utilisation in order to maximise the positive environmental benefits.
