Michigan EV fast-charging infrastructure increased over 52% in 2023


Michigan’s electric-vehicle fast-charging infrastructure grew slightly faster than the nation overall last year, according to a new report by East Lansing-based Anderson Economic Group.

In 2023, the state’s number of public DC fast-charging stations increased about 52%. Nationwide, the number of public DC fast charging stations increased by 47%.

As of April 2, there were 311 public DC fast-charging stations and 1,141 Level 2 charging stations across Michigan, according to AEG, which used data from the U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center for its report. In the U.S., there were 9,177 DC fast charging stations.

As of Tuesday, Michigan had 1,170 Level 2 charging stations and 316 DC fast-charging locations, according to the department.
