Millwood, April 11, 2024 — The Millwood Robotics Team from The Arts Academy is proud to announce their outstanding achievement in the Botball Tournament held on April 6, 2024. The team clinched an impressive second place in the double elimination rounds, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication to robotics.
Comprising 11 highly motivated students, the Millwood Robotics Team has been diligently working after school to design, build, and code their robot to excel in the Moon Base-themed challenges presented in the Botball Tournament. Their remarkable performance not only demonstrates their technical prowess but also underscores their collaborative spirit and innovative thinking.
The Botball® Educational Robotics Program has provided these students with invaluable tools to develop sophisticated strategies using artificial intelligence and embedded systems. Through programming in languages such as C, C++, and Java, students have gained hands-on experience in robotics, enhancing their skills in science, engineering, technology, math, and writing.
By participating in Botball®, students at The Arts Academy have been engaged in a team-oriented robotics competition that aligns perfectly with today’s educational standards. The inquiry-based, learn-by-doing approach not only fosters creativity but also instills discipline, leadership, and teamwork skills in the participants.
“As a team, we are thrilled to have secured second place in the Botball Tournament,” said Samone Taylor, Coach of the Millwood Robotics Team. “Our journey doesn’t end here; we are excited to represent our school and community on a global stage at the Global Conference for Educational Robotics in Charlotte, NC.”
The Global Conference for Educational Robotics (GCER) will provide the Millwood Robotics Team with the opportunity to compete internationally among some of the brightest minds in the field. Scheduled for July 26-31, 2024, the conference will serve as a platform for students to showcase their talents, exchange ideas, and collaborate with peers from around the world.
In addition to the Millwood Robotics Team, the Millwood Elementary Robotics Team has also qualified for GCER, exemplifying the depth of talent and commitment to robotics education within the Millwood community. Both teams are eagerly looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that await them at the global level.
