Ministry of Industry Issues Warning to Automobile Dealerships for Delivery Delays, Misleading Advertising

ALGIERS- In a statement released this Monday, the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production has urged automobile dealerships operating in the importation sector of new vehicles to adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in the official specifications adopted by the government.
The ministry has identified two infractions committed by dealerships, as reported by dissatisfied customers: “The Ministry of Industry has received numerous complaints from citizens regarding the non-delivery within legal deadlines of their ordered vehicles, in accordance with the provisions of Articles 18 and 19 of the specifications attached to Executive Decree No. 22-383 of November 17, 2022… It has also been observed that some authorized dealerships misled the public through false advertising, claiming the availability of new vehicles and their delivery within legal deadlines,” stated the press release.

The ministry emphasized the importance of complying with the specifications: “The Ministry urges all authorized dealerships to fully comply with the specifications and to adhere to all its provisions, particularly those concerning delivery times, and to refrain from engaging in misleading advertising regarding the availability of vehicles,” read the statement. It further outlined that measures would be enforced by the ministry in cases of non-compliance, including the potential revocation of accreditation: “In the event of failure to comply with this commitment, the Ministry will take measures provided for by current legislation and regulations, which may include the revocation of accreditation.”
