Mount Aloysius cybersecurity offering gains national recognition | News

CRESSON – Mount Aloysius College’s cybersecurity program has been ranked third in the Cybersecurity Guide’s annual list of top 25 related associate degrees in the country.

“We’re proud of our dedicated cybersecurity faculty and students, and we’re grateful that our program is again recognized for real excellence,” college Vice President for Academic Affairs Dave Haschak said in a release.

“This ranking from Cybersecurity Guide, along with other national recognition, legitimizes the quality of our cybersecurity offerings and helps us to maintain the high standards we’ve established.”

Justin Williams, chair of the school’s information technology department, said the honor will boost the growth of the program.

“Our students have been instrumental in helping us build and completed the new lab, and I’m glad their hard work has been recognized,” he said in the release.

According to Cybersecurity Guide, the organization strives to compile the most thorough collection of cybersecurity information for industry professionals, high education institutions and technology companies to use.

Only programs that are Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity are considered and the school’s program gained that recognition in 2022 from the U.S. National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Several factors including retention data, graduation rates and tuition costs are included in the consideration.
