Nevis robotics team earns trip to state – Park Rapids Enterprise
Nevis Tech-No-Tigers Robotics Team 3102 will be competing in the Minnesota High School League’s state tournament at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus May 4.
The top 36 ranked teams will compete in a one-day, one-class tournament to determine the state champions.
The Tech-No-Tigers are ranked 27th out of 197 teams in the state.
“When competing in a team’s regional first event, qualification points are earned based on that team’s performance,” mentor Olaf Netteberg said. “A formula is used that factors many benchmarks and all teams are then ranked. Once every team has attended their first event the top 36 teams earn an invitation to the MSHSL Robotic State Tournament. We were ranked 27th this season and earned that position while competing in Arkansas against teams from 10 different states.”
This will be the fifth time that 3102 will compete in the state tournament. They had a second place finish in 2013 and won the consolation match in 2016.
“We are very excited to have earned a spot in this elite event and are equally excited to be yet another Nevis team to make a trip to state in the 2023-24 school year,” Netteberg said.
