Newport robotics team finishes 5th in Houston competition
NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Aquidneck Island Robotics FRC Team 78 finished fifth in the world, winning their division at the first World Championship in Houston, TX.
Comprised of 26 students from 15 communities in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, the team, called AIR STRIKE has now competed in 15 of these events.
The team competed Bridge Water State University’s District Event, taking first place.
The team earned a qualifying spot in the FRC Championship thanks to two other impressive showings in Revere and Springfield, MA.
AIR STRIKE went undefeated in their divisional tournament, which earned them a first place trophy and an invite to the interdivisional Einstein bracket where they finished fifth.
