North Clarion Robotics Teams Excel in VEX Robotics World Championship

DALLAS, TX — Two North Clarion robotics teams competed at the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas recently.
North Clarion Principal Ed Baumcratz told exploreClarion.com on Wednesday that the teams were competitive in their divisions and “represented North Clarion well.”
The Ambiguous Case, made up of Patrick Young, Aiden Thomas, Emalie Best, Allison Ochs, and Kevin Young, earned the Judges Award in their division. This is awarded to a team that stands out to the judges due to their perseverance and effort, ability to overcome obstacles and achieve goals, or from an exceptional interview.
North Clarion’s other competing team was the Ineffable Inventors, comprised of Julian Bellotti, Gabriel Fair, Luke Dinger, Tyler Swaim, Abby Hastings, and Dean Sliker.
US Congressman GT Thompson shared his pride about the accomplishments of two robotics teams from North Clarion High School with Congress and the nation in comments broadcast on Wednesday, April 10, on C-Span.
“I rise today to recognize two North Clarion High School robotics teams that competed in the Western Pennsylvania Robotics championships in March at PennWest University—Clarion. Two teams, Ineffable Inventors and Ambiguous Case, finished in first and second place, respectively,” Thompson said.
Background of North Clarion’s Western State Championship Competition
On Monday, March 4, six North Clarion robotics teams competed at the Western State Championship at PennWest Clarion University.
The Ineffable Inventors and The Ambiguous Case earned awards and an invitation to the World Championship.
The Ineffable Inventors were Tournament Champions and earned the Amaze Award, which recognizes a consistently high-performing and competitive robot.
The Ambiguous Case finished in 2nd place in the Skills Challenge and earned the Excellence Award, which recognizes overall excellence in judging criteria and robot performance.
The VEX Robotics World Championship, presented by the Northrop Grumman Foundation and the REC Foundation, is an annual event that brings together the top VEX IQ Robotics Competition, VEX Robotics Competition, and VEX U teams from around the globe to celebrate their accomplishments and participate in the games to be crowned champions.
