Omaha Children’s Business Fair supports Young Entrepreneurs
More than 100 youth in Omaha will showcase their entrepreneurial skills at the annual Omaha Children’s Business Fair. The Omaha Children’s Business Fair is a one-day marketplace that offers children an exceptional opportunity to connect with local business owners and mentors in Omaha and build their entrepreneurial skills. Children created their products or services at the fair and made sales. Volunteers said it’s a team effort to ensure a supportive environment for young entrepreneurs. KETV spoke with the Omaha Children’s Business Fair organizers, Acton Academy Omaha, and Prairie STEM. They told KETV that the purpose of the business fair is to help children discover their entrepreneurial skills. Rachael Benson, the founder of Acton Academy Omaha, said the fair is about building business confidence and fostering personal growth in children. “Let’s invite them to this safe place and rally the community to help them bring their ideas to life and start to build more and more of who they are and that self-confidence not in their perfection, but in their courage,” Benson said. Rachael Fox volunteers with the Omaha Children’s Business Fair. She said that young entrepreneurs learn to be independent while owning their products. “Apart from being a business owner and entrepreneur, they’re taking extreme ownership in what they do. They take pride in their work,” Fox said. “So, it’s not just something Mom and Dad told them to do; they did all the work behind the scenes and put their kid out in front. No, these kids are brilliant. Their minds are huge, and they have huge hearts.” The fair will host 30 local entrepreneurs to guide and support young professionals. At the end of the event, entrepreneurs will have a chance to win awards in various categories. The event will be held on Sunday, April 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church.
