PennDOT announces details for electric vehicle charging funding | Pennsylvania News

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced details for Round 1B of its National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) funding opportunity.

According to a press release, PennDOT’s proposal period for $171.5 million in funding will be open from May 13 to July 10, 2024. The funding comes from passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in 2021.

The press release says Round 1B of the NEVI proposal period will focus on closing gaps remainining in Pennsylvania’s Alternative Fuel Corridors for the electric vehicle charging locations previously selected in Round 1A.

“We’re making electric vehicle infrastructure more accessible to Pennsylvanians,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. “With federal dollars provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Pennsylvania is continuing its progress to build out the EV charger network along the state’s alternative fuel corridors.”

According to the press release, funds for the NEVI program are awarded on a “competitive basis to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain EV charging infrastructure across Pennsylvania.”

Fourteen corridor groups are eligible for funding in Round 1B, and a map of them can be found here.
