People are being encouraged to sign up for the Government’s latest fintech training scheme before the June 5 deadline.
The Economic Development Department has launched the third annual fintech training programme, a collaboration between the EDD, the Department of Workforce Development and various industry leaders.
Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, said: “The Government is steadfast in developing Bermuda’s fintech ecosystem and programmes like this are vital for nurturing local talent.
“By investing in education and creating a supportive regulatory environment, we can ensure that Bermudians are well equipped to seize opportunities in this burgeoning sector.
“We aim to build a vibrant and sustainable fintech ecosystem that benefits all our citizens.”
According to a government spokesman, the programme uses a globally recognised fintech curriculum and participants will “delve into their chosen online classes based on selections recommended by the EDD”.
“The aim is to provide the learners with a comprehensive understanding of how they can leverage technology to modernise financial systems.”
In addition, free online courses “enhance participants’ soft skills, including project management, cybersecurity, change management and digital citizenship”.
Participants will also get to network with industry leaders, including executives from local Digital Asset Business Act-licensed companies.
Owen Millett, who took part in the 2023 programme, said it was “truly transformative, exceeding my expectations”.
“It provided me with invaluable insights into the intricate world of finance, igniting a newfound passion and drive within me,” he added.
“The knowledge and skills I gained have not only enriched my understanding but have also fuelled my motivation to excel beyond measure in the financial realm.”
Maryem Biadillah, the EDD’s acting director, said: “I am pleased to witness the continued evolution of fintech and its pivotal role in bridging the gap between traditional financial services and the digital future.
“As we embrace this new era, we are committed to confirming Bermuda’s position as a leading fintech hub. The knowledge and skills Bermudians gain through this programme are instrumental in achieving that goal.”
