QuoteWizard Confirms Possible Cybersecurity Incident and Data Breach Related to Cybersecurity Incident at Snowflake | Console and Associates, P.C.

Recently, QuoteWizard, a LendingTree company, confirmed that the company may have been the most recent victim of an incident at Snowflake, a cloud-based solutions company. In this notice, QuoteWizard explains that it uses Snowflake and that Snowflake previously reached out to QuoteWizard to explain that certain data may have been affected by the incident. If, upon completing its investigation, QuoteWizard determines that confidential consumer information was leaked as a result of the Snowflake data breach, QuoteWizard will begin sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the recent data security incident.

If you receive a data breach notification from QuoteWizard or Snowflake in the future, it is essential you understand what is at risk and what you can do about it. What Caused the Data Breach QuoteWizard Customers?

The QuoteWizard data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, QuoteWizard’s statement to TechCrunch provides some information on what led up to the incident. Additionally, several other companies have been impacted by the incident at Snowflake.

According to these sources, QuoteWizard’s parent company, LendingTree, confirmed that it is a customer of Snowflake and that Snowflake recently reached out to LendingTree to explain that QuoteWizard “may have had data impacted by this incident.” However, Snowflake hasn’t yet classified that incident as a data breach, claiming that hackers were able to access information due to users’ failure to employ multi-factor authentication.

QuoteWizard is still investigating the incident. However, if QuoteWizard confirms that confidential consumer data was leaked as a result of the Snowflake data breach, one of the two companies will be required to send out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
