RCMP Recognizing EMS Dispatchers during National Telecommunications Week
April 14th to the 20th marks National Telecommunications Week, and the RCMP across the Territory are using the opportunity to show their support for the important work done by their dispatchers.
While the NWT has 12 full-time dispatchers around the North, there are thousands of these telecommunications officers and call-takers across the country. As the first line of contact between the public and emergency services, it is their job to remain cool and collected as they gather information from the callers during difficult situations.
All of the NWT’s dispatchers work out of the Operational Communications Centre in Yellowknife. The Yellowknife RCMP have stated that they will be hosting a career presentation on Thursday, May 2nd to explain more about the job and see if anyone would be interested in applying.
