Robots are taking over Mansfield at Shawshank Showdown


MANSFIELD — In celebration of 10 seasons of Team 5413 Stellar Robotics providing STEAM learning opportunities to students K-12 in Richland and surrounding counties, Stellar is excited to announce an exciting new event in Mansfield: Shawshank Showdown!

This free event will take place at Mansfield Senior High School on 124 N. Linden Rd on Saturday, June 8th, from 8am to 5pm. Robots will square off to play “CRESCENDO”, the 2024 FIRST Robotics Competition game challenge. You’ll see them shooting game pieces, climbing a chain, working together, and defending their goal! The event is currently looking for volunteers to take up various roles, such as field setup and teardown, handing out safety glasses, managing registration tables, queuing teams, resetting the field after matches, and more.

Education Row will be available to attendees to discover local opportunities through businesses, local schools, colleges, organizations, and other FIRST teams. There will be a Food Truck Alley available to attendees as well.

The worldwide mission of FIRST is to provide life-changing robotics programs that give young people the skills, confidence, and resilience to build a better world. Stellar Robotics assists in this mission as a community-based, non-profit educational organization which promotes and teaches Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) skills through competitive and non-competitive robotics programs open to any students K-12 in Richland County, OH and the surrounding areas.
