Rota SBDC to host Cybersecurity 101 on Rota | Local News

ROTA—Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and are also increasingly becoming targets for cyber threats. In recognition of the critical need for cybersecurity education and preparedness, the Rota Small Business Development Center is proud to announce its upcoming training session, “Cybersecurity 101,” specifically tailored for entrepreneurs and small business owners on the island of Rota.

Scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, the training will be held in Room A-1 at the Northern Marianas College Rota Center. This invaluable session will be conducted by renowned cybersecurity expert Herman M. Kintol, owner of KRS Cyberworx. With over a decade of experience in the field, Kintol brings a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to help attendees understand the fundamentals of cybersecurity and how to protect their businesses from cyber threats.

Cybersecurity is no longer a luxury but a necessity for businesses of all sizes. As technology continues to advance, so do the methods employed by cybercriminals. Small businesses, often lacking the resources and expertise of larger corporations, are particularly vulnerable to cyberattacks. A single breach can have devastating impacts, including financial loss, damage to reputation, and even legal liabilities.

By participating in “Cybersecurity 101,” small business owners on Rota will gain essential and affordable knowledge and skills to safeguard their digital assets, customer data, and overall business operations. Topics covered will include understanding common cyber threats, implementing basic security measures, and developing a proactive cybersecurity strategy tailored to the unique needs of small businesses.

Seats for this training session are limited, and interested individuals are encouraged to register early to secure their spot.
