Sen. Brown raises the alarm on dangers associated with Chinese electric vehicles
Washington D.C. (WTRF) – As electric vehicles continue to flood the American car market, one U.S. Senator is sounding the alarm about Chinese-made products.
Ohio Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown is pushing the Biden Administration to ban all electric vehicles designed, developed, manufactured or supplied by China that are connected to the Internet and feature smart technology.
One reason is because of potential job losses by American workers. Brown says China cheats by subsidizing their own industries, giving them an unfair advantage over American-made vehicles.
He’s also worried about the data these cars could collect from both Americans, and the details it would provide the Chinese Communist party on American infrastructure.
“When China will use these vehicles, these essentially electric vehicles to gather personal data from people and potentially to jeopardize our national security, so I’ve been pushing the White House, as I did in the past with Presidents of both parties to go a different direction, and we’re starting to see some good signs here, and there is building an effort to keep this stuff out of our country.”

Brown has also criticized the Biden Administration for allowing an electric vehicle tax credit to be used on cars that feature a key battery component from China.
