Senators honor Southern Tier robotics team for international success
State Senator Tom O’Mara, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, and Assemblyman Chris Friend honored the Southern Tier robotics team, Team TARDIS 5356, for their impressive performance at the New York Excelsior Regional Championship and the FIRST World Festival.
Team TARDIS, a 14-member group from Corning-Painted Post and Horseheads high schools, won the Inspire Award at the Excelsior Region Championship in March, held at Mohawk Valley Community College. This award celebrates excellence in robot design, innovation, programming, and STEM outreach.
Their victory secured a spot at the FIRST World Festival in Houston, Texas, in April, where they competed against 224 teams and finished 16th overall. Senators O’Mara, Palmesano, and Friend presented a Legislative Resolution to the team at their Horseheads headquarters, celebrating their success and dedication.
