Smart Charge Hawaii App: A Must-Have for EV Owners
Hawaiian Electric is encouraging electric vehicle (EV) owners to download the Smart Charge Hawaii app, an essential tool for maximizing charging efficiency and supporting the state’s clean energy goals. Timur Tufail, Senior Program Manager of Commercial Strategy & Innovation at Hawaiian Electric, joined Kelly on Living808 to share all about the app.
The Smart Charge Hawaii app offers numerous features designed to enhance the EV experience. Users can track charging history, schedule charging times, monitor when their vehicle is fully charged, and set price limits per charge. This app not only simplifies the charging process but also aids Hawaiian Electric in developing future charging programs and EV-specific rate options.
Tufail shared that as Hawaii strives for zero emissions by 2045, with over 31,000 EVs already on the road, the data collected from the app will be invaluable. Hawaiian Electric will be able to use the gathered data to help strengthen the power grid, ensuring its reliability and reducing the likelihood of blackouts, benefiting all residents.
To encourage adoption, Hawaiian Electric is offering an incentive for the first 2,000 sign-ups! Participants can choose between $150 in cash or 10,000 HawaiianMiles. This offer is available to all residential EV owners on Oahu, Hawaii Island, and in Maui County. So make sure you are one of the first to sign up!
