South Eugene Robotics Team heads to the World Robotics Championship

After a successful showing at the Pacific Northwest District competition over the weekend, the South Eugene Robotics Team (SERT) is ranked #1 in the PNW and is now headed to the World Robotics Championship in Houston, Texas.

“The district competition was fast and exciting,” says team co-captain Cinco Murchison, a senior at South Eugene High School. “We’re proud to represent the whole Eugene/Springfield area on the world stage.”

SERT will face the 600 top-ranked robotics teams from around the globe at the world championship.

It’s an exciting arena sport, and the students learn engineering, tech and business skills along the way.

The team is set to leave for the four-day competition on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

SERT has established a GoFundMe to help offset costs for registration, equipment and scholarship fees for the team. “The Championship is a big venue, and a perspective changer. It opens students’ eyes to what’s possible. If they want to go, we want to make it happen for them,” click here to learn more.
