The Arkansas Department of Transportation has awarded $15 million in federal funds to build 19 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the state.
Funds come from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program, established by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration. The program provides funding for projects to build a national network of EV charging stations by 2030. It’s a reimbursement-type program that provides for a maximum 80% federal share and 20% private share.
Funding can only be used for EV charging infrastructure that is open to the public or to authorized commercial motor vehicle operators from more than one company.
