State Department’s Coalition For Climate Entrepreneurship To Host Startup Showcase At GITEX Africa

From May 28-31, the U.S. Department of State will participate in GITEX Africa in Morocco, the largest convention for emerging technology in the region.  As one of many U.S. Department of State private sector development initiatives on the African continent, the Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurship (CCE) partnership will participate in GITEX Africa to highlight the work of CCE startup incubation hubs in Ghana, Kenya, and Morocco.

On May 28, the U.S. Department of State, Emerging Business Factory, and the Near East Foundation will co-host a Climate Start-Up Showcase on the sidelines of GITEX Africa and under the banner of the Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurship.  The Climate Start-Up Showcase will connect potential investors to climate-focused, early-stage startups contributing to Africa’s green economy.  The Climate Start-up Showcase is open to media and there is limited space for potential investors and partners.  To request an invitation, please contact info@neareast.org.

On May 29, the Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships, U.S. Embassy in Morocco, and Microsoft Morocco will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the GITEX Africa venue to collaborate to support climate-focused entrepreneurship in Morocco.

On May 30, Thomas Debass, Chief Partnerships Officer at the U.S. Department of State, will speak on a GITEX panel “Leveraging Emerging Technologies and Climate-Focused Entrepreneurship to Drive Sustainable Economic Prosperity in Africa” and he is available for media engagements throughout the week.
