Students showcase robotics skills at A-Hub’s hackathon
Visakhapatnam: Abhishek from Prathibha Vidyalayam, remarked, “Our robot does many tasks such as sowing, ploughing, weeding, spraying pesticides and fertilisers and harvesting. We are also using wind and solar energy to make our robot energy-efficient.”
He said, “We also made an app for farmers to monitor water and soil parameters to grow from zero to hero level.” He was one among many who participated in a two day robotic hackathon conducted here by A-Hub set up by Andhra University.
“This is my first hackathon and I feel so excited. I also feel shy and tense, but I am enjoying this program and the facilities here,” remarked M Eshwar Sai, ninth standard student from Sri Sarada Vidya Nilayam.
Students from Dr. L Bullayya College, NSRIT, Geethanjali Institute of Science and Technology, VIT-AP, Aditya Degree College, Andhra University, GITAM, Lakki Reddy Bala Reddy College of Engineering and Technology, Sankethika Vidhya Parishad, KITS Engineering College, Narayana Engineering College Nellore, Sri Sarada Vidya Nilayam, GMRIT, and Prathibha Vidyalayam actively participated in the event.A-Hub hosted the event under the name ‘HackAP Robotics Hackathon.’ “Enthusiastic startups and wannabe entrepreneurs showcased their innovative ideas at the event,” Dr. Ravi Eswarapu, CEO of A-Hub told Bizz Buzz on Monday, when asked to give his comments. A-Hub held the event in collaboration with Alcove Partners and TiE Vizag. This was part of tenth edition of the HackAP Robotics Hackathon organised in partnership with Teckybot. The event, held over two days from May 25 to 26, brought together 32 teams from several educational institutions and companies across Andhra Pradesh. Eleven of these teams advanced to the finals, showcasing their ingenuity and problem-solving prowess.
The hackathon served as a dynamic platform for participants to demonstrate their creativity and innovation by designing practical solutions for real-world challenges.
Teams worked tirelessly, developing prototypes, crafting compelling presentations, and delivering live demos to the discerning panel of judges on the event’s final day, Eswarapu said.
The valedictory ceremony featured Eswarapu, who is also the president of TiE Vizag chapter. As the presiding dignitary Diwakar Vadapalli, Incubation Manager at A-Hub, and Eswarapu presented awards and certificates to the top three teams, recognising their exceptional creativity and groundbreaking work in robotics.
Team Zyclone took home first place, followed by Team Kreda Mitra in second and Team Agrobot Brawls in third. The judging panel was deeply impressed by the dedication, innovative thinking, and unwavering commitment displayed by all participating teams, making the selection of winners a challenging task.
The resounding success of the HackAP Robotics Hackathon underscored the participants’ invaluable experience, fostering design thinking, collaboration, and innovation.
The organisers said they wish to hold more such events in the future, further fueling creativity and technological advancement in the region.
