Swisscom Sure: a New Approach to Insurance
Swisscom’s Easy Cyber Insurance and the Easy Protection extended guarantee for devices have been available to customers for many years. Swisscom has now joined forces with top insurance partners to offer a wider range of insurance products under the brand name ‘sure’. “The aim behind the move is to meet customer demand for straightforward, digital solutions in the insurance sector”, explains Dirk Wierzbitzki, Head of Residential Customers at Swisscom.
The switch-on insurance
The new products have been designed as switch-on insurance products, meaning that the insurance can be arranged quickly and easily online for a flexible period. All products have been developed with simplicity, transparency and flexibility in mind.
- Simple: The products are easy to arrange and adjust online. The premium is paid with the Swisscom bill. Customers will not therefore receive any additional paying-in slips by post or e-mail.
- Transparent: The customer can view all policies in My Swisscom, allowing them to keep track of their cover and easily manage everything.
- Flexible: Most premiums are paid monthly and most policies can be cancelled under observance of a 14-day period of notice to the end of a month. Cover can also be adjusted (increased or decreased) monthly to suit the customer’s needs and current life situation.
The best of both worlds
As Dirk Wierzbitzki explains: “Trust is essential in both telecommunications and insurance. We would like to build on this by offering our customers everything from a single source to suit their requirements. It is important to understand that Swisscom sure is not an insurance company, but an intermediary. Our various products have been developed in close partnership with top insurance service providers.”
These partners are Zurich Insurance Company Ltd, AXA Insurance Ltd and Europäische Reiserversicherung ERV. It’s a win-win for policyholders, Swisscom and the insurance partners. Customers benefit from the My Swisscom online platform and premium insurance products from trusted insurance companies such as Zurich Switzerland. Robert Gremli, Head of Brokers & Partnerships and member of the Zurich Switzerland management board: “I am delighted that these two companies with such strong brands have joined forces. Offering Zurich products on the Swisscom sure platform will deliver added value for digitally confident customers in particular.”
Multiple partners and products
With ERV, Swisscom has launched leisure insurance. This consists of two components, SOS assistance, which covers incidents that take place during the leisure activity, and the insurance of cancellation costs. Cover can be arranged almost immediately for between 1 and 22 days, without a long lead time. For Walter Wattinger, CEO of Europäische Reiseversicherung ERV, the convenience for customers is a big plus: “We are happy to be working with Swisscom to offer products that meet customer demand for uncomplicated, easily arranged insurance solutions.”
Swisscom has been offering combined household contents and personal liability insurance with Zurich Insurance Company Ltd since 23 April. Thanks to flexible cover options, the insurance can be tailored to the specific needs of the customers.
In the coming weeks, Swisscom will also be offering rental deposit insurance through AXA. Potential policyholders receive the offer just when they need it, which brings them significant added value, explains Dominique Kasper, Head of Indemnity Insurance at AXA Switzerland: “The cooperation with Swisscom enables us to offer customers a service exactly when they need it; for example, shortly before their move.”
Further products, such as legal expenses insurance, travel insurance and motor vehicle insurance, are planned by the end of the year. The newly available insurance products can be arranged online in just a few clicks, with monthly payment and cancellation options and adjustment of the annual deductible.
For the time being, the products are only available to Swisscom customers who have a My Swisscom login. The products will eventually also be made available to non-Swisscom customers.
