Telecom providers revenue ranking U.S. 2022
Verizon had the highest total revenue amongst telecommunication providers and operators in the United States in 2022 with revenues of 136.8 billion U.S. dollars. This is about 16 billion higher than the revenue produced by runner-up, AT&T. T-Mobile US, as the third major telecom provider in the United States, has managed to more than double its annual revenue over the past five years from around 40 billion U.S. dollars in 2017 to more than 79 billion U.S. dollars in 2022, boosted by its merger with Sprint.
Main U.S. wireless providers
Since at least 2008, AT&T had the highest operating revenue in the United States each year. For AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile US, revenue has increased significantly over the past ten years. T-Mobile’s revenue specifically has quintupled since then. AT&T and Verizon were also ranked among the most valuable telecommunication brands worldwide in 2022, standing alongside companies, such as Deutsche Telekom and Xfinity.
Wireless services segment
Most of the wireless telecommunications revenue in the United States is generated by AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile US. Since 2011, the two largest companies – Verizon and AT&T – each have held about a third of the wireless subscription market in the United States, while T-Mobile and Sprint combined hold a share of about thirty percent. The merger between T-Mobile and Sprint is a sign of further market consolidation as it created a third major player in the U.S. telecommunications market on par with AT&T and Verizon.
